Public Education Program (PEP)
PEP was initiated in 1980. Its primary purpose was, and still is, to provide the resources required by the Society to carry out one of its major functions: informing the public as objectively as possible of the many uses, both actual and potential, of nuclear science and technology; their benefits and challenges.
This responsibility to disseminate the truth about nuclear energy is met by multi-faceted activities, ranging from answering questions from the public to providing classroom projects to students and teachers. The projects involve a large portion of the membership of the Society.
PEP provides materials and other assistance to those who are sponsoring and coordinating outreach projects. Contact the ANS Outreach Department at outreach@ans.org or call 708.352.6611 for information. Read about current PEP programs in the Annual Report.
