Nuclear science and technology is a vital part of the global environment and ANS needs to be an active participant in the technical and public discussions around its applications. My experience and engagement in ANS have prepared me to help continue our progress and ensure that advancement is obtained in a financially responsible manner. Key attributes of ANS going forward must include:
- Providing venues for nuclear technical information interchange through conferences, workshops, journals, Nuclear News, websites, books and other publications.
- Fostering opportunities for public education concerning the importance of nuclear technologies.
- Being a primary point of contact for the media on all nuclear technology issues.
- Advocating the enhancement of nuclear technology applications, education, research, and infrastructure
- Empowering broad membership involvement in Society governance.
- Engaging in world-wide public policy discussions related to nuclear technology implementation.
